Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 14:6 NIV
Jesus told his disciples that he was going to prepare a place for them in the Father’s house. And then he would return for those who were his. Then Jesus told his disciples that they knew the way to the Father’s house. But Thomas responded with “we don’t even know where you’re going, much less how to get there”. So Jesus answered him with directions; he is the way to the Father’s house. There is no other way. If you miss a turn, your GPS will not recalculate to find you another way. Apart from faith in and commitment to Jesus you will not reach the Father’s house.
That Jesus is the only way is not popular in our culture and is considered to be too exclusivist. There are many ‘other ways’ advertised all around us: other religions or philosophies; being good enough; or even denying that the Father’s house even exists. But Jesus doesn’t say that he is ‘a way’, but that he is ‘the only way’. All of the other ways will end in disaster for the one who travels them. Follow Jesus along the narrow path that leads to life; all other roads lead to destruction (Matt 7:13-14).
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” – Acts 4:12
This is just the reply I wanted to see. Thank you so much. May God bless you and all that you endeavor.
You’re welcome. And, thanks.
Good Morning. The reason I say I hope is because I did some bad things in my past . When God visited me He said you did some bad things. I looked at Him and started crying and said but so did everyone else. Instead of falling at His feet and begging for forgiveness that was my reply. I’ve regretted that so many times. I pray every night that He forgives me of my sins. My brother who is a Bishop says I don’t have to do that, that once is enough. What do you think?
Listen to your brother. 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
Sometimes I can’t wait for Jesus to come back. What a day that will be. Just think, no more deaths, illnesses, nor crying. I pray every night that I make it to heaven. It just seems so awesome. Our God is magnificent isn’t He?
He is indeed. But we do not have to hope we make it to heaven. We can know. By his Spirit who lives within us.
