Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

Ephesians 1:3 NIV

How has God blessed you? Many believers would answer that in terms of family, home, work, friends, health, or prosperity. And indeed those often are blessings from God. But how often do we stop to consider the spiritual blessings that God has given to us in Christ?

God has blessed us tremendously ‘in the heavenly realm’, with every ‘spiritual blessing’. While the physical blessings listed above can come to all people, these spiritual blessings come to those who are ‘in Christ,’ the chosen, the elect, God’s people. In his thanksgiving for these blessings, Paul mentions several of them.

  • God chose us before creation to be holy and blameless in his sight. He knew me before creation and has chosen to see me as holy and blameless.
  • God predestined us to be adopted as his children. His plan in creation included my sonship.
  • He has redeemed us through the blood of Christ. God loved me so much that he gave his Son for me.
  • And he made his will known to us. I do not know the whole will of God, but he has given me his word that reveals what I need to know.

Just an old clay jar that God continues to see fit to use in his kingdom's work. I am retired, married with 2 children, and 4 grandchildren. I have followed Jesus for many years. And I love to share what He has given me from His word.
