Say No to Ungodliness

Titus 2:12

It [the grace of God] teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age

Titus 2:12 NIV

It is so easy to conform to the social standards of the day and just follow the herd. To believe the lie that happiness and contentment will come from driving a fancy new car. From keeping up with the latest fashion trends. Or from using some hot cosmetic or shampoo. This is essentially the same temptation that Eve faced in the garden. And one that humans have faced ever since. To satisfy self.

Living a godly life in an ungodly society is much harder. After all, who likes to stick out and be different than the crowd? All too often the one who sticks out gets pounded on, in an attempt to put them back in their place. And this is especially true of those whose lives put their own in a bad light. No one wants to feel guilty.

But that is what God calls us to do. To say no to ungodliness. And to be godly and upright in the world we live in. To be a light in the darkness of our world. And to reflect well on our Lord, drawing people to him.
