Enter Through the Narrow Door

Luke 13:23-27

Someone asked him, “Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?”

He said to them, “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to. Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Sir, open the door for us.’

“But he will answer, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’

“Then you will say, ‘We ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.’

“But he will reply, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from. Away from me, all you evildoers!’

Luke 13:23-27 NIV

Salvation is a gift that God offers to all people. But most will never experience it. Some will reject it out of hand. Others will embrace the idea of heaven and eternal life but will want to obtain them in their own way.

Jesus Is the Only Way

But Jesus is the only way to eternal life. Every other way that man has devised is a dead end, a road to destruction. The door to life is open to all who would repent of their sin, turn to Jesus in faith, accept the salvation he offers, and give themselves to him as Lord. But only those who come through Christ will enter.

Many come to the door and look in, satisfied with sitting on the porch, but never going in. And then, when it is too late, will knock on the door seeking admittance, only to hear, “I don’t know you.” Don’t be content with just going to church and calling yourself a Christian. Give yourself to Christ, make him Lord, and enter the door to eternal life. Don’t be left outside, enter through the narrow door.
