Today is Christmas. And I hope that sometime during your day today that you will take time to remember the greatest gift of all. The gift of a savior.

Remembering the Manger and the Cross

The manger has no real meaning apart from the cross. This Christmas, don’t forget why Jesus was born in Bethlehem over 2000 years ago.

The Victor

This is one of my favorite Easter songs.  I love the picture that it paints, even if the theology may be a bit shaky. The Victor Swallowed into earth’s dark womb Death has triumphed that’s what they say But try to hold Him in the tomb The Son of life rose on the third day Look, the gates of hell are falling Crumbling from the inside out He’s bursting through the walls with laughter Listen to the angels shout Chorus: It is finished, He has done it Life conquered death Jesus Christ has won it His plan of battle fooled …

New Years 2013

As 2012 draws to a close, and 2013 dawns, it is a good time to take stock of the past year and look forward to the coming one. Of course there is nothing magical about the transition from one year to another; it is after all an arbitrary point selected for convenience rather than one with any real significance. More than a baby born into humble circumstances, Jesus was Immanuel, God with us. This Christmas, don’t just celebrate his birth. Worship him as God.

Thanksgiving 2012

As Thanksgiving rolls around again I find it appropriate to take the time to remember what I have to be thankful for.  Included in this updated list from last year is (are) … a God who created this universe and who has given me an opportunity to be a part of his kingdom, both now and through eternity.  I am thankful to God that I can know him in a personal way.  And I am thankful that he has a purpose even for one as insignificant as I. the opportunity to serve God both within a local church and the …

A Grateful Veteran

Yesterday was Veteran’s Day, a time for our country to honor those who have served in our nations military; many of whom made the ultimate sacrifice in that service.  I am very thankful for all those who have served over the years; in particular my own father, my wife’s dad, and both of our children, as well as countless friends over the years who have invested some portion of their lives as sailors, soldiers or airmen. As a veteran myself, I would like to give thanks to my country for the opportunity to serve, and for all that I got out of …
