I would like to offer up an alternative suggestion; one going in the opposite direction. Let the government add an excise to the price of gas, starting at $1.00 per gallon and upping it a dollar per gallon each year until it hits $5.00. All of this excise should be put into a pot that could only be used for funding transportation solutions.
I would like to suggest an alternative candidate for our upcoming elections. I know it is kind of late in the cycle to draft a new candidate, but if he runs as an independent, missing out on the primaries should not be an insurmountable obstacle. And so, without further ado, I would like to issue a call to Winnie the Pooh to run for president of the United States.
In my opinion, and at the risk of being judgmental myself, WBC is nothing but a small group of people, mostly one extended family, that are hate filled and use Christianity simply as an excuse to spew their hatred for the rest of the world. I can see no evidence that they themselves have experienced or know the love of God. And yet, God would save even them, if they would repent and turn to him.
In God we trust. It is the American motto and is inscribed on every bill and every coin in my pocket. So it must be true … right? I am not absolutely sure who the we is in this expression, but I assume it to mean the American public; you, me and the other 300 million plus people who live in this country. And surely all of us in this Christian nation trust in God … don’t we?
If you’re like me you probably have not given a whole lot of thought to this whole Occupy movement. I have known from the beginning of this movement that the 99% were protesting the 1%, the numbers referred to your economic standing, and that the movement was spreading across the country and the world. But exactly what they were trying to accomplish somehow escaped my cursory review of the news surrounding them.
Some of our Presidents I have liked and thought they did a reasonable job (meaning I agreed with their positions). And others were considerably less desirable in my mind. I am really glad I live in a country where we have some choice in who fills the leadership positions at the federal, state and local level.
