Sound Doctrine and Ethics – Titus 2:1
It is important that we teach ethics alongside of sound doctrine. It is not enough for us to have right beliefs. We need to live holy lives.
Encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory. (1 Thess. 2:12 NIV)
It is important that we teach ethics alongside of sound doctrine. It is not enough for us to have right beliefs. We need to live holy lives.
Paul’s plea for us all is that we would live a life worthy of God. That we would live holy and godly lives that are pleasing to God.
Jesus is returning for his chosen ones someday. And, as we wait for that day, we should live holy and godly lives, looking forward to it.
How often do we speak careless words? The psalmist’s prayer that God would set a guard over his mouth should be echoed by all of God’s people.
Paul advised Timothy to avoid things in this life that distract, and to focus on training in godliness. Training with value for eternity.
Dare to be different, to say no to the ungodliness that is so rampant in our society. Instead, live an upright and godly life.
Don’t be a Sunday Christian, having a form of godliness on Sunday morning, and then being like the world the rest of the week.
As a ‘man of God,’ I need to flee ungodliness in all its forms. Instead, I should pursue righteousness, godliness, and other godly virtues.
