Following Jesus Wherever He Leads – John 12:26
Salvation involves more than a verbal confession. It involves faithfully following Jesus wherever he leads and serving him there.

Obedience to God is an essential component of the Christian life. It is much more important than the outward forms and rituals that are so often a mark of the Christian life. To obey is better than sacrifice.

As hard as it sometimes is, Peter’s words here call on us to submit to every human authority we find ourselves under. Even if they are evil.
There is much we can learn from the Old Testament. Especially, to heed the warnings not to follow the examples of those who disobeyed God.
And God has called each of us to serve in different ways. We are answerable to him, not each other. So, leave judgment to the Lord.
During Jesus’ time of temptation in the wilderness, he was with wild animals. A situation similar to Adam, but with very different results.
All too often my will is at odds with God’s will for me. Jesus set the example for me when that is true. “Not as I will, but as you will.”
Nehemiah’s plea for God to remember him with favor expresses his desire to hear Jesus say to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Jotham’s power as a king came because of his obedience to the Lord. Similarly, if we walk steadfastly before God, he will empower us for life.
Have many of us who grew up in the church and have heard and read about Jesus for years take offense at what he tells us to do.?
The promise that God made to Abraham is relevant to those of us who have come to trust in Jesus. And that hope is an anchor for our soul.
Josiah personal renewed the covenant of God. Committing himself to it. I believe he sets a good example for all who follow the Lord.
The author’s challenge to us here is to move beyond the elementary teachings of the faith. To be growing ever deeper in the truth.
