As Christians, we have one God, the Father, and one Lord, Jesus. Together with the Holy Spirit, they are the triune God we worship and serve.
Each person of the triune God works in our salvation. The Father sends the Son to save. And he send the Spirit to wash and renew.
The Shema affirms that for Israel there was only one God. Paul reworded it to express that there is one God and one Lord. Not two, but one.
