When you face challenges because you are a Christian, rather than complain, worship God. And never forget that others are watching your reactions.
In the midst of this serious account of Jesus betrayal and arrest is found this amusing little story of a young man who turned into a streaker. What possible reason could there be for this inclusion? I believe it is the author of this gospel saying, “I was there”. I personally saw what happened.
As a believer, I am called to be a witness to what the Lord has done for me. I am not expected to make a deeply theological presentation as I share the gospel. Instead I need to simply tell them how much the Lord has done for me. Be a witness to others of the love of Christ in your own life.
Does my life attract people to Christ, or do others use it as an excuse to reject the God I serve? Let others see Jesus in me; and in you.
Most people care what others think of them. We are social creatures and it is only natural that we want to be accepted by the rest of the herd. But Jesus calls us to come out of the herd and to walk with him. For many of us it is a difficult thing to stand out from the crowd; to face ridicule and derision is hard on my self esteem.
But fear did not stop the formerly blind man, nor did a lack of knowledge. He freely confessed what he didn’t know, and stuck to what he did, to what had happened to him; “I once was blind, but now I see.”
Parts of the second and third chapters of Romans are easy for us Gentiles to take a little lightly because Paul is targeting the Jews. And, since I’m not a Jew, then surely this section has little to say to me; right? Try swapping out a couple of words in the passage below as shown and see if it might have more to say to you. Now you, if you call yourself a Jew (Christian); if you rely on the law (Bible) and boast in God; if you know his will and approve of what is superior because you are …
