A Living Faith

James 2:14

What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them?

James 2:14 NIV

Salvation is solely a work of God’s grace that we respond to in faith; there is nothing I can do to earn it. But that faith is not passive; it is fruitful (John 15:1-5). Does your life give evidence of living faith? Does your faith in Christ prompt you to give to the needy, to care for the down and out, or to comfort those experiencing loss (Matt 25:34-40)? If it does not, then James’ message in this passage is for you. It may be that your faith is dead and of no value. Your deeds will not save you. But they will give evidence of your salvation. Evaluate the evidence; what does it say? Do you have a living faith?
