Encouraging, comforting, and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory. (1 Thess. 2:12 NIV)

An Introduction to Systematic Theology

Before looking at any specific doctrines, it is useful to get some general information about 'doing' theology. This page links to the posts on this site that deal with introductory topics. In addition, there is a link to a page that contains resources that I find helpful.

  1. “I have been a follower of Jesus for 53 years. Married for 41 years with two grown children and four grandchildren. I am actively involved in a local church. Retired and enjoy backpacking, gardening, and, when my body will tolerate it, running. And I also enjoy Bible study, teaching the Bible, friendly theological discussions, and playing with my grandchildren.” EJ
This sounds very much like me! Except I currently have you beat in number of grandchildren (9), and my physical therapist reminded me that longer than 8 minute miles is “jogging”, not running. Perhaps you are still able to do that! I do think that I fit more in the Arminian category, and have concerns with modern reformed theology, especially its typical views on Israel (being replaced by the Church). My wife and my path with God has brought us many experiences with Him, supernatural and otherwise, and we remain faithful to Him. We are blessed and thankful to say that all our children know and serve the Lord Jesus. Our oldest of 3 children graduated to heaven this January after a two year illness, and we look forward to seeing her again in glory. I will investigate more of your thoughtful and Scriptural studies and blogs as time permits. These are exciting times, and we want to be willing and available to join Him in the furtherance of the Kingdom. May the Lord bless you.

    • Welcome to A Clay Jar. I do pray that what you read help will be helpful to you in your journey.

BTW, It has been a long time since sub 8 minute miles were something I was capable of. I have managed to run sub-9’s for half a marathon. But even that is long past.
