Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.
Matthew 24:9-13 NIV
In this passage, Jesus was looking ahead to a time of great upheaval in the world. He described a time when those who followed him would suffer greatly, with many turning away. Many false prophets would appear, preaching a more appealing gospel, and would deceive many. Wickedness would increase, and love would fade. People are divided as to the time period Jesus is referring to here. But I believe that what he is saying has relevance for any time, including today.
Stand Firm
I do not know what you face in your life as a follower of Jesus. Some who read this may indeed be facing intense persecution and suffering because of their faith. Others may well be tempted to conform to the world around them. Or experience doubt because God does not seem to care about what is happening. But Jesus’ words to his early followers are just as appropriate to us today. Stand firm! Don’t be moved from the hope that we have in Christ. Walk with him, and stand firm, until the end. And experience the salvation he has waiting for us.
The persecution, differ from Country, State to another and it depend on how spiritual an individual is to understand but my prayer to the Church we should be more focus on the cross to understand what the enemy is doing
Better still is to keep our focus on the risen Christ, sitting at the right hand of the Father (Col. 3:1-4). Knowing that we are there in him. And, so long as we stand firm until the end, nothing will change that. We are secure in him, regardless of what people do to us here.
This passage is telling to look at the end time is at hand because what Jesus said in this passage is happening, while most people are not seeing it happening
What Jesus describes in this passage is not unique to the times we live in. It has been going on for as long as people have been on the earth. Jesus is indeed returning for us. But we do not know when that will be. But, while we wait, stand firm and let nothing move you.
