Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.

Paul was writing 2000 years ago. But what he had to say about that time is just as true today. The days are evil. I doubt many would deny that assessment. We live in troubled times with conflict, famine, and poverty in many places. Social instability and immorality threaten the fabric of our societies. And the earth itself seems to be responding in protest to the way we have been treating it.
As a follower of the Lord Jesus, how should I live now? Paul’s advice to his initial audience is just as appropriate today. We need to be careful about how we live. To be wise and make the most of our opportunities. This implies intentionality. Seeking to live my life in such a way as to make a difference in the world around me. A life that will glorify God and draw people to Him.
It also means that we need to recognize evil for what it is. Sometimes evil is subtle, and when we are unwise, we can be easily drawn into it. But using God’s wisdom will help us to discern that evil and avoid its grip. So be careful how you live—be wise and make the most of every opportunity that comes your way. Be the light of Christ in a world of darkness.
