Truly my soul finds rest in God;
my salvation comes from him.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.

Psalm 62:1-2 NIV

The world today is in turmoil. War, pandemic, global warming, inflation, civil unrest, and more. Watching the news can be a depressing experience. I don’t know if things are that much worse now than they were 100 years ago. But, at the very least, we are much more aware of world events because of global, near-instantaneous news coverage of every facet of our lives.

Find Rest in God

In many ways, David’s world was much different than what we experience today. Yet he still faced his share of problems. Enemies from outside the kingdom as well as inside. But in the midst of all of the pressures he faced, his soul found rest in God. The world around him might be uncertain. But he could face it all with confidence because his trust was in God. God was his rock and fortress, his security in challenging times. And because of that, he would come through the storms of his life unshaken.

And what David experienced should be our experience as well. If you have trusted in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, your soul can find rest in Him. Regardless of the turmoil that might swirl around you, you can have confidence that the Lord will bring you safely through it, protecting your soul from all the dangers that you might face. Trust in God, let your soul find rest in Him, and you will never be shaken.
