Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
1 Chronicles 16:34 NIV
his love endures forever.
Thanksgiving is a day set aside on our calendar for giving thanks. But we should learn to give thanks every day. And I believe that is especially appropriate in these challenging times. COVID-19 is still raging around the world with deadly effects. The measures taken to minimize its spread and severity have been controversial. The political atmosphere in the United States is toxic and divided. The social fabric that has held us together seems to be unraveling quickly. It would be easy to fall into the trap of thinking that there is not much to be thankful for this year.
But I am thankful. Grateful to the one I have committed my life to. While the world around me may be chaotic, he is a rock I can cling to. As David did in 1 Chronicles 16:7-36, I can always look back and see his hand at work in my life. And I can look forward with the expectation that he will continue to care for me, using all that happens to help me to grow as his child (James 1:2-4). Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good and his love lasts forever!
An encouraging word thank you ☺️
