Where Do You Meet with God?

Numbers 7:89

When Moses entered the tent of meeting to speak with the LORD, he heard the voice speaking to him from between the two cherubim above the atonement cover on the ark of the covenant law. In this way the LORD spoke to him.

Numbers 7:89 NIV

Moses had a unique relationship with God (Num. 12:6-8). God spoke to him face-to-face. And, when the Tabernacle was finished, Moses was regularly able to enter into the Holy of Holies and hear God speaking to him from between the cherubim.

Moses went into the innermost part of the Tabernacle to meet with God. Jesus frequently went off by himself to pray (Matt. 14:23). Having a place to go and meet with God, free from distractions, is important. Do you have a closet (Matt. 6:6) where you can meet with God?

If I sit still for very long, I fall asleep. But I have found that going out for long walks early in the morning works well for me. My body is actively walking along a known route and requires little attention. It is dark, so the sights of the neighborhood are greatly diminished. I can dismiss mental distractions by jotting down a note for later consideration. And all of that works to free my mind to focus on meeting with my God, face-to-face.

Where you meet with God will quite likely be different than mine. But I would encourage you to find a time and place where you can encounter Him on a daily basis. It will make a dramatic difference in your walk with God.
