Greatness in the Kingdom of God – John 13:3-5
Greatness in the kingdom of God is measured by how well we serve others. Delight in doing the little things in service to other people.
Encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory. (1 Thess. 2:12 NIV)
Greatness in the kingdom of God is measured by how well we serve others. Delight in doing the little things in service to other people.
Never grow weary of helping others. God considers the help we provide to other people as a fragrant offering and an acceptable sacrifice.
This is an example of the upside down nature of God’s kingdom. The one would wants to become great should be the servant of all.
Imagine what the church would be like today if each of us felt compelled to serve, using the gifts God has given us for the common good.
Our world measure greatness by power and influence. But Jesus turned that upside down. To be first, you must become last, the servant of all.
Our life within the church should stand in contrast to what we face in the world around us. We need to be willing to love and to serve, glorifying God.
Do you want to be worthy of God’s calling? Only God can make you worthy. And he does. And he will bless our efforts toward doing good.
