For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.

Titus 2:11 NIV

There is much debate in some circles concerning the scope of God’s offer of salvation. Some will contend that God’s offer is limited to only a select group of people. While others believe that God’s gift of salvation is offered to all, although not everyone will accept that gift. This verse says nothing about human receptiveness to the grace of God. But it does tell us that salvation is offered to all people through God’s grace.

A Gift of God’s Grace

We live in a time when the world is deeply divided. And it can be tempting to demonize people on the other side of the divide. To view them as somehow unworthy of God’s love and salvation. And indeed they are. But so are we. According to the Scripture, all of us are unworthy of God’s love. All of us fall short in every way of being worthy of his salvation. But the good news is that he offers it to us anyway. The offer of salvation made to each of us is not based on our merits. It is based entirely on God’s grace. His unmerited favor toward us, unworthy as we are. Praise God for his indescribable grace (2 Cor. 9:15) that offers salvation to all people.
