The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.
Revelation 22:17 NIV
This chapter starts with a picture of the river of the water of life flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb. This river flows through the middle of the holy city, the bride of Christ. And on either side of the river stands the tree of life. Trees that bring healing to the nations.
And as Jesus’ Revelation to us closes, an invitation is given to drink from this river. The Holy Spirit and the bride offer this invitation to all who are thirsty. This invitation harkens back to Jesus’ encounter with the woman at the well in John 4:7-15. Jesus told this woman he could give her living water to quench her thirst. Water that would well up to eternal life. This is the same invitation the Holy Spirit and Christ’s church, the bride, offer here. It is an invitation to all who have a spiritual thirst to drink from this water and know the Lord’s salvation.
This free gift of salvation is offered to all who will receive it. If you are thirsty, separated from the life of God, I invite you to drink from this water. Experience life in communion with the one who made you and loves you beyond measure.
