Death Is Defeated!

“Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen!”
Luke 24:5b-6a

“Why do you look for the living among the dead?” The women had come to Jesus’ tomb to anoint his body for burial when they encountered a pair of angels asking this question. Followed up by the good news, “He is not here; he has risen!” Such wonderful good news. Jesus is alive! Death is defeated!

The gospel of Luke opens with angels delivering messages to Zacharias, Mary, and some shepherds. And to the shepherds, it was a message of great joy for all people. The message delivered here was also a message of great joy to all people. Death had been conquered. Jesus had defeated the power of death. No longer do we have to fear death. “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” (1 Cor. 15:55).

Thank you, Lord, that in you, I no longer need to fear death and its great unknown. Instead, I can face it confidently, knowing you have defeated it. And that, on the other side of death, I will be with you forever.

The Gift of God is Eternal Life -Romans 6:23

While we all deserved death because of our sin, the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus for all who believe.

The Confident Expectation of Eternal Life – Titus 3:7

Those who have put their hope and faith in the crucified and resurrected Jesus can also look forward to victory over death and eternal life.

God’s Salvation Will Last Forever – Isaiah 51:6

Your time in this life is short. But God’s salvation is not. So be faithful to him and experience his salvation that will never end.

New Birth into a Living Hope – 1 Peter 1:3-4

On Easter, we celebrate Jesus’ victory over death. And because of that, those who believe in him have been given new birth into a living hope.

Amen! Many Christians are still searching for life among dead by still depending on the world, who has nothing but death to offer, to resurrect them. Many of God’s children are suffering from addictions and various kinds of wounds forgetting that Christ already died so that every wound can be healed and every addiction conquered. We need to take full advantage of the blood of Christ. He died for us after all.

Amen! Many Christians do not understand the great significance of the death and resurrection of Christ and many times we search for life among the dead. We run to this world that has nothing but death to offer instead of taking full advantage of the blood of Christ. Many Christians are suffering from all kinds of addictions and overall just dealing with various wounds because for whatever reason we forgot that Christ already died so that every kind of wound imaginable, every kind of addiction can be healed and conquered. When we begin to depend on the blood of Christ we’ll feel a heavy load come off our shoulders.
