Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.

Hebrews 7:25 NIV

Jesus is able to save completely those who come to God through him. Why? Because he always lives to intercede for us. Hebrews goes to great lengths to show that Jesus is our great high priest. A high priest who represents us before the throne of God. And who offered himself as an atoning sacrifice on our behalf.

The completeness of the salvation Jesus provides is two-fold. First, his salvation will always last because he always lives to intercede for me. It is not just for this life that I experience his salvation. It extends throughout eternity.

And second, the salvation he offers is transformative. I have been born again, of the Spirit (John 3:7-8), and adopted into the family of God (Gal. 4:5). The old rags I once wore were stripped off, and I have been clothed anew in righteousness and holiness (Eph. 4:22-24). In Christ, I am a new creation (2 Cor. 5:17).

This salvation is not something I can earn or achieve on my own. It is Jesus who saves. There is no other way to God but through Jesus and the salvation he offers. But all those who come to God through Jesus are saved fully and completely.
