That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.
Ephesians 1:19b-21 NIV
At Easter, we remember the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. He gave his life as the atoning sacrifice for our sins. And he was placed in a tomb. But then he rose from the dead, defeating death. But that is not the end of the story.
God raised him from the dead—and raised him much higher. Paul tells us that God exerted his mighty power, raising Jesus from the dead and seating him at his right hand in the heavenly places. He has been placed above all other authority, both physical and spiritual. And there is no greater name we can call on now and forever. God’s power exalted Jesus from the depths of death’s embrace to the highest place of honor and authority at God’s right hand.
As humans, we raised Jesus up onto a cruel cross, mocked him, and killed him. But God raised him from the dead, exalted him, and gave him the highest place of honor and authority. Because of what God did, we can celebrate the risen and exalted Jesus. And rejoice that we have an eternal future with him.
