Whoever speaks, let it be with God’s words. Whoever serves, do so with the strength that God supplies, so that in everything God will be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.
1 Peter 4:11 NET
God has gifted each of us in some way for service within the body. And we have a responsibility, as stewards of God, to faithfully use that gift.
Do you have a gift that involves the use of words? Then be faithful to let God speak through you. Are you gifted in some other way? Then serve with God’s strength and not your own.
In all you do, you should ask yourself one question. Is God being glorified in me, my words, and my actions? To be glorified is to exalted, lifted up, and magnified. As I preach, teach, or write, is God glorified? Or am I? As I serve a meal, care for children, or any other way I use the gifts God has given me, is he glorified? Or am I?
God has no need of any glory I might bring to him. There is nothing I can do that will increase his glory or diminish it. But he is worthy of glory. And I should seek to bring him glory. It should be my natural response to who he is.
And when his glory is revealed in me, it can serve to draw others to look to him rather than me.
